School, School and more School

Well you guessed it, our lives are full of school! Every one from Joseph to Christopher.  While at times we complain about “having to work on school all the time,” it is truly a privilege. I know that I am extremely grateful to advance my education beyond high school while staying at home. However the most important aspect for us to remember is that we will always be in “school.” Our lives should consist of one learning process after another.  “Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.” Philippians 3:8

To quote Joseph, “The day I stop learning should be the day I die.” May this be true of all our lives.

skiing!

This year I have skied the most than I ever had! Tomorrow marks my third ski trip. Skiing is the funnest winter sport. Tomorrow I hope to learn to keep my skis closer together all the time. I hope to get some air on worm-gear and paradise (My favorite runs). Maybe I will get some cool pictures and post them.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

As this new year unfolds we hope that our life song will be a sweet song to God. We pray that we may have one pure and holy passion.

Give us one pure and holy passion
Give us one magnificent obsession
Give us one glorious ambition for our lives
To know and follow hard after You

Give us one pure and holy passion
Give us one magnificent obsession
Give us one glorious ambition for our lives
To know and follow hard after You

To know and follow hard after you
To grow as your disciples in your truth
This world is empty, pale, and poor
Compared to knowing you, my Lord
Lead us on and we will run after you
Lead us on and we will run after you

May God fill us, and may we run hard after Him, the only way!

My Birthday

Hi!

Chris here. I just turned double-digits! In other words I am now 10! I had a great day today. We went hunting and I almost got a Hungarian Gray Partridge, but it flew before I could aim at it. Oh well I guess I learned for next time. This year I hope to do more hunting, maybe for pheasants and deer too.

Downhill skiing is on my list of things to do this year. I hope to get better at it. Maybe one day I will become a ski patrol person or a paramedic. I want to help people when I grow up. God says to help people and that is why I want to do it.

Today we get to open a time-capsule. My family made it when I was born. I can’t wait to see what is inside of it tonight!

An Interview with Matthew

Tonight I was trying to decide what to post when Matthew came up with the idea of having a interview.

Abi – So what has been going on in the life of Matthew?

Matthew – Oh boy, what has been going on… a lot. I just got back from Chicago.

Abi – Why were you in Chicago?

Matthew – I was there visiting my cousins.

Abi – What was a highlight of the trip?

Matthew – Going to downtown Chicago. I got to see where my Grandma got married and a live CBS news broadcast.

Abi – Cool! Could you describe the broadcast? Or things that you found interesting?

Matthew – The cameras could move on their own and the weatherman pointed to a green screen  when he was talking.

Abi – When did you come back from IL?

Matthew – We came home on December 23, 09.

Abi – Did you have any travel troubles with the snowy weather?

Matthew – Yes. We had icy rain/snow and strong winds. We traveled at about 45 miles an hour on I-35.  My dad is an excellent driver so I had nothing to worry about.

Abi – Are you still on Christmas break? Or have you started school back up.

Matthew – No I started school yesterday. In fact that is what the rest of my siblings are doing right now. During Christmas break we had friends over to “do the boards.”

Abi – What exactly are the “boards?”

Matthew – We will post pictures later on.

Abi – Well, thank you, Matthew, for your time. We appreciate learning about what is going on in your life!
