At 8:30 am today Joseph, Joshua, and Abigail joined four other youth plus the pastor of our church to begin an adventure in the BWCA (Boundary Waters Canoe Area). They will begin orientation at 3:00pm and shove off in the canoes tomorrow. We anticipate hearing LOTS of adventure stories as they return to Svea Lutheran Church Friday evening. (Pastor Todd’s back seems to be doing much better, and we praise God for his healing.)
Joshua just finished volunteering in the GFA booth at the Sonshine Music Festival. He worked there from 10 am to 4 pm on Thursday and Friday. It was extremely hot and humid. The two people in the picture below are also GFA volunteers that helped out with this event.

Lots of People
Yesterday was the annual Blomkest Appreciation Day event. The theme for the parade this year was “Under the Sea.” Abigail, her horse riding instructer, and friends dressed up as the little mermaid on horse back. Abigail was the seagull. She had a white costume with a large piece of yellow paper on her head as part of the beak. On the other hand, Joseph rode in a firetruck with another Blomkest First Responder during the parade. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed a potluck supper, followed by a water fight between the local fire departments which included Joseph. View the photo blog for more information.
Yes, Abigail has her driver’s permit now. She completed her first drive through Willmar traffic a few days ago and seems to be handling it fairly well.
