County Fair

Matthew Talking to a 4-H JudgeNow that we’re back from the memorial service for Susan’s Uncle (which went well, by the way), it’s time give you a brief summary of the county fair.

Everyone (Joshua through Matthew) from our family that took a project to the fair received blue ribbons. Joshua and John will advance on to the State Fair with their video and fishing projects. Abigail will take her horse training project, Keylee, to the state horse show.

Our county fair was filled with feeding horses, watching horse shows (Abigail and Matthew), 4-H project conference judging, foodstand shifts, eating ice cream and much more. Matthew was pictured in a news article along side of George Bush on the front page of the West Central Tribune last Wednesday. Click on the image to read the article. View photos of the kids projects in the photo blog.

Updates, Funerals and Trips

Joseph, Joshua, and Abigail enjoyed the time they had together in the boundary waters. The adventure started on Sunday, July 17th and ended on Thursday. Some of the highlights included: paddling through waves over a foot high, finding/eating limes on island campsite, portaging through knee-high swampy mud, and blazing a new portage trail that didn’t exist. But the most important experience learned in the BWCA was timelessness, peacefulness, and serenity. You can view photos of their canoe trip in the photo blog by clicking here.

After the three oldest returned from the BWCA, they plunged back into work, 4-H and church events. Time is ticking and the deadline to the County Fair is drawing nearer with each passing moment.

The Kraemers will make yet another trip to Illinois this summer for a second funeral. This time, it’s Susan’s uncle. She will be singing The Lord’s Prayer, Just A Closer Walk With Thee, and In The Garden during the funeral. We drive down Wednesday, go to the funeral in Rockford on Thursday, and drive back Friday. During this time we will stay Wednesday overnight with friends of ours in the Rockford area and Thursday overnight in a motel with the grandparents.
