Eight team members and two coaches donned green shirts for more than St. Patrick’s Day on Saturday, March 17th. The green polo is the official uniform of the Kandiyohi County Horse Bowl Team, which gathered in Hutchison, MN to compete in Regionals. This year the Kandiyohi County Horse Project sent one junior team, composed of Dylan (third year), Tasha (second year), Matthew (first year) , and MaQuelah (first year).
Only two seniors, Abigail (sixth year) and Lori (third year) were signed up to compete, and so the remaining seats on the team were made up of 12 year old Mark (second year), and Kalina (first year). It was definitely a “building year” for the teams and they did better than expected. Coach Susan was surprised, as it was her first time filling in full time for extremely busy project leader, RaeAnn. She will miss working with the motivated 4-H’ers, assisted by her daughter, Abigail; but confesses it will sure be nice to have five more hours of “free time,” now that the competition is over.March, 2007

Winter Returns to Minnesota…
Winter returns to Minnesota…again…and again… again! After a relatively mild season thus far, residents of the North Star State were treated(?!) to a winter’s worth of “weather” in a weekend. Even Sunday worship (February 25th) was canceled as the the roads were not yet plowed out.
(No worries – Crown Farm was able to gather for another “house church” meeting, “officiated” by “Pastor Chris,” and complete with scripture readings, hymns, and even bulletins!) The second storm came through less than a week later when blizzard-like conditions returned for a 48 hour “one-two punch” with an additional 20 inches of snow. Wednesday night church was also canceled, as were the activities normally scheduled for Thursday and Friday, and even on into Saturday. Truthfully, it was nice to be “snowed in” as it made us slow down and and see how overly busy we had become. We spent a lot of the time reading Laura Ingalls Wilder’s, The Long Winter. (How appropriate!) At least we didn’t have to keep braiding hay to keep warm! The kids had a blast playing in the piles created by the payloader and skids. Even Mom brought out the kicksled! The adults got to “play” with snow removal equipment, and Kelvin was asked to squeeze in a loadout! A good time was had by all. (As I write this, we are experiencing a literal meltdown, and the kids are now building “dams” in the ditches.) March came in like a lion and may go out like a lamb. May you be brought to remember this season the Lion of Judah, who is the Lamb of God!
