Hope Pregnancy Center Banquet Fundraiser

The Kraemer Family Singers had the privilege of being a part of a wonderful evening testifying to the mighty redemptive power of God’s love. We were asked to prepare two musical selections for Hope Pregnancy Center’s Fundraiser Banquet, hosted at the Holiday Inn of Willmar, MN last Thursday (September 21st). The featured speaker was Ryan Dobson (Dr. James Dobson’s son) who spoke on the dangers of tolerating things that are “just plain stupid,” and the need for truth to shine forth. He also expressed thanks to all the moms who go through the pains of a pregnancy and then give their child up to a waiting family. HE was the son of one such mom, who delivered her son into the hands of Jim and Shirley Dobson!

A highlight for us was the client testimony from a gal that we personally know from the farms. It was touching how through her courageous testimony God brought honor and glory to Himself from one of the lowest points of her young life. Isn’t that just like Him?! :D

Our songs wrapped up the program, with Abigail and younger siblings singing a treble arrangement of Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the Womb.” Christopher began and ended the song with a touching solo. We finished with the whole family boldly singing Psalm 16, “For You Are My God,” with Joshua accompanying on the piano. (He, John, & Abigail also supplied the dinner guests with an hour and a half of background piano music earlier in the evening.)

It was a new experience for us, and the smaller fry that had to wait all night for their turn to sing were very well behaved!

To God be the glory—Great things He hath done!

Joseph heads to Alaska

On May 26th, Joseph begins his flight to Bethel, Alaska to join some of his ALERT buddies as a Bible Camp counselor. One of the men, Joshua F., had done this last year and recruited Joseph and 2 other buddies, Cliff and Tim, to return with him for the next two weeks. They will be leading a survival camp, and some short canoe trips out of Russia Mission. The salmon are running on the Yukon, which tends to bring on the bears as well. Joseph says, “Bring on the adventures!” We’re sure he’ll have lots to tell when he returns. (though they say that someone like him may not want to return…! :D We pray God’s blessing and protection on them as they share their gifts with the campers.

Sonshine Festival

Joshua just finished volunteering in the GFA booth at the Sonshine Music Festival. He worked there from 10 am to 4 pm on Thursday and Friday. It was extremely hot and humid. The two people in the picture below are also GFA volunteers that helped out with this event.

Church in a Bar?

“Welcome to the 9:10. We are what time we start.
It’s the perfect church for those that ain’t.”

Joshua finished up his last video of “church in the bar” on Sunday, June 5th. For the past 8-10 weeks Joshua has been helping promote “The 9:10 Simple Church” in the local bar by broadcasting (videotaping) every service on the local cable access channel each week.

This church is organized by a friend of ours who wants to reach the “un-church” and “un-saved”. When a person receives Jesus at this church in the bar, the goal is to redirect him/her to a different church where they can attend perminantly. We don’t want Christians necessarly to attend this church, since it is geared towards the un-saved.

Popular songs from the ’50s-’70s are played every week with the words changed to reflect the message.

Attendance for this church has been poor among the non-christians as well as Christians. Yet, the “9:10″ still goes on. Having the service aired on TV has sparked some curiosity and interest from the general public in the Willmar area.

Joshua had to take a break from videotaping the “9:10″ because the Kraemer’s church switched from 10:45 am to starting at 9:30 am for the summer worship schedule. Joshua also serves as an occassional acommpianist at out church.

You can view one of the actual videos Joshua took of the “9:10″ in our video blog by clicking here.
