Blog Hosting Changed

Since the free webhost we’ve been using for the past two years is going out of business, we had to switch web hosts. We made the move to our new host yesterday and everything appears to be working OK. If you notice any errors, missing pages or anything else that’s broken due to the transfer, please let us know. You can use the comment system or email to let us know.

Thanks.

Email Subscriptions

For those of you that read our blog via email, you may have noticed that our email updates are now sent from Feedblitz rather than Bloglet.

There is nothing you need to do to continue receiving updates via email. You have been automatically unsubscribed from the Bloglet email service and added to our new email list. As always, if you wish to unsubscribe there will be links in the email updates to do so.

Thanks, and have a great day. :D

The management.

Email Update Issue – Fixed

For those of you that subscribe by email:

We’ve posted a few Joseph updates since you’ve received your last Bloglet email a couple days ago. We found a problem with our email update service provider (Bloglet) that was blocking the emails from being sent.

The issue has been resolved, hopefully, and you should start to receive your emails again.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for your patience.

We’re Back!

For those of you that tried to visit our website during the past few days, you might have seen an “account suspended” page. This is because our blog was recently “attacked” by referrer spam.:(

Definition of Referrer Spam:
Referrer spam is a kind of search engine-targeted spam. The technique involves making repeated web site requests using a fake referer url pointing to a spam-advertised site. Sites that publicize their referer statistics will then also link to the spammer’s site. This benefits the spammer because of the free link, and also gives the spammer’s site improved search engine link placement due to link-counting algorithms that search engines use.

Why was this so bad? Well, these spammers were not only effecting our bandwidth usage (how many page loads per month we’re allowed, etc.), they also caused a heavy load on our web host. That was the main reason our account was suspended. Our web host was able to block spammers, and enable our account again.:)
